Electrical and telecommunications retailer Dixons Carphone has offloaded its Dutch arm as part of a wider strategy to pull out from the continent.

The Phone House Netherlands will be sold to Relevant Holdings BV, owned by rival retailer Optie1, in a deal which will see Dixons Carphone retain a minority 17 per cent stake and commit to supply insurance and technical support to customers.

Commenting on the disposal Dixons Carphone chief Sebastian James said: “This is another step in our clear strategic plan to focus on our core retail business in markets where we have scale and relevance to customers, whilst growing through service partnerships in the wider international arena. We look forward to building a strong and healthy business together.”

The sale follows hot on the heels of that of The Phone House Deutschland, which was sold earlier this month to German operator Drillisch.

Dixons Carphone has refused to divulge the contract value for either deal.
