An epic rager of the exuberant eight-year-old kind. To tout the supreme strength of Hefty’s crack-resistant Ultimate Easy Grip Cups, Havas Chicago created this online video to show that the ultimate party requires the ultimate cup…and now since Hefty cups are crack resistant, you can “party harder.” The playful spot, running as pre-roll as well as being featured on Hefty’s Facebook page, includes a frosting faceplant, cake mashing, piñata smashing, silly-string spraying, dance-party raving extravaganza.

Creative Director: Andrew Samuel, David Walker

Short Rationale: Bridge Brewing is a new craft brewery in North Vancouver, British Columbia. Strong draft and growler demand encouraged Bridge Brewing to move into 6pk packaging and they called on Saint Bernadine Mission Communications to help with the design and brand system.

The packaging honours the craft credentials of Bridge Brewing through the craft paper texture backgrounds. The naming conventions of their beers celebrate the popular outdoor lifestyle of North Vancouver by referencing local areas that are well trodden by mountain bikers, hikers, kayakers, skiers, boarders, and climbers. This localized reference is reinforced by the inclusion of topographical maps of the areas with key landmarks indicated.

Short Rationale: Samuel de Champlain helped shaped the face of Canada, and now Canadians have the chance to do the same for him.

While Samuel de Champlain was a significant figure in Canadian history — hailed as the ‘first modern cartographer of Canada’ and an expert mariner who crossed the Atlantic 27 times amongst many other amazing feats — an interesting fact about him is that nobody really knows what he looked like. The pointy-moustachioed visage people have become familiar with is, in fact, merely the product of an artist’s imagination. So, to generate buzz around the release of TFO’s “Rêve de Champlain,” a six-part miniseries providing a portrait of the explorer and celebrating 400 years of a Francophone presence in Ontario, the French-language public broadcaster has created “Champlain: Portrait of a Nation,” a microsite where Canadians can lend their faces to create a composite image of one of Canada’s most notable, but mysterious historical figures.
