Fitch has appointed Hermann Behrens as chief executive officer of its North American operations – a newly created position.

Behrens, who will be based in New York, is responsible for expanding the retail and brand consulting company’s presence in North America.

South-African born, Behrens worked at Reckitt Benckiser and KSDP, at which point he set up Brand Union in Dubai, expanding the company throughout the Middle East. His position eventually included overseeing Africa, after he was appointed regional director.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Hermann for many years during his time at Brand Union. He has a deep knowledge of branding and a passion for its physical expression across complex and varied markets,” said Fitch Worldwide chief, Simon Bolton. “Hermann has the charisma and vision to drive Fitch’s North American growth and I am very pleased he will do so from our new office in New York.”

Behren is set to begin his new role immediately.
