Former Starcom Mediavest (SMG) chief executive Stewart Easterbrook has become strategic advisor to video production marketplace Wooshii.

The UK-based company, which already has a community of more than 10,000 video-making professionals globally, provides a platform through which brands and agencies can set briefs for video content production.

Video production professionals that are part of the Wooshii community can then bid for the work.

It has already worked with start-ups and brands including Google and Unilever, and has brought in Easterbrook to help it drive further scale in the agency community.

Speaking to The Drum Easterbrook said the firm represents a new kind of company that has formed to help cater to the ever-increasing demand for video content from brands.

“Advertisers are only ever going to need more and more video collateral, but not necessarily with the budgets you would need for TV advertising. But with so many other platforms like Facebook and YouTube there is high demand for high quality video assets and Wooshii is a place where they can go.”

Wooshii vets all video companies that request to become members of the network.

Easterbrook was most recently executive director of performance and digital development for Europe at SMG, and prior to that was chief executive for five years starting from 2008.

He has also been hired as a strategic consultant by programmatic trading specialist Media iQ.
