Arsenal was the most talked about football club on social media as the Premier League got underway last week.
The social buzz around the football season, analysed by Meltwater, found that the top three teams mentioned across Twitter, Facebook and blogs were Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.
Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas garnered the most buzz as the most talked about player, followed by Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata and the team’s newly signed player Marcos Rojo.
Twitter saw the highest amount of mentions around the event (73%) followed by Facebook (26%) and blogs (1%).
Louis Van Gaal won the battle for the most mentioned manager.
