Snapchat Discovery set to launch to showcase news and adverts

Snapchat is looking into the launch of a new service, Snapchat Discovery, which will allow users to read articles, watch TV show clips and see adverts.

At least a dozen media companies are believed to have been contacted about the creation of the service, including the Daily Mail, which would see users holding down a finger on the screen while reading to stop the article from being deleted – the same way images work on the app.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Snapchat Discovery is set to launch in November.

While some companies do use Snapchat as an opportunity to advertise – such as Evian and Calvin Klein - it does not currently offer paid-ads: something that Snapchat Discovery could change.
