Escada CEO moves to Bench as it announces ‘renewed design ethos’
The CEO of accessories and lifestyle brand Escada, Bruno Sälzer, is set to move to apparel company Bench as it looks to push forward a ‘renewed design ethos’.
Effective 1 December Sälzer will take on the role of CEO and chairman at the urban wear brand, which recently announced a contemporary and ‘functional-led approach’ to product design.
Sälzer commented: “Bench fashion is an expression of young people’s attitude towards life in the age of the internet and social media: individual, casual and with an eye for their own style. This exciting brand appeals to a target group which is of increasing importance for the fashion industry. What is important for me is that I am able to have a long-term entrepreneurial stake in Bench.”
Sälzer has also acquired a 15 per cent stake in EMERAM Urbanics Holding, owner of Bench.
Founded in Britain in 1987, Bench has a target audience of men and women aged 20 to 30 and achieved annual turnover of more than €100m in 2013.
