Xbox One owners complain after new TV ad remotely activates their consoles
Xbox One owners have been left frustrated by a new advert starring Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul, after they found it was switching on their consoles without permission. The ad begins with Paul intoning ‘Xbox on’, which happens to be the phrase used by the machine’s Kinect voice and motion sensor for remote activation in the home thus confusing all concerned. The glitch was first reported on social media sites such as Twitter where bemused video game fans logged in to report instances of the problem but there is little that can be done short of switching off the Kinect sensor entirely.
Aaron Paul just said "Xbox on" in the new xbox one commercial and my xbox one turned on soooo that's pretty cool I guess
