Apple is refusing to accept the results of the latest trial with Samsung and is instead upping the pressure on its Korean rival by requesting a retrial.

According to reports the US tech giant is hoping it can squeeze more money out of Samsung, despite the courts having already ruled in its favour that Samsung must pay Apple $119.6m in damages because its devices infringed on Apple’s patents around its click-to-call and slide-to-unlock features.

However, the sum was a mere drop in the ocean compared to the $2.2bn the US tech giant was reportedly aiming for.

In 2012 after the first Apple vs Samsung trial in California, Apple had also requested a sales ban of Samsung-infringing devices – a request that was denied by the courts.

Now it has filed for another retrial based allegations of ‘prejudicial claims’ by Samsung to the Jury. You can view Apple's filings here.

Earlier this month Apple took a cheeky jab at Samsung in a print campaign stating that 'there are some ideas everyone wants to copy'.
