Former Hain Daniels chief executive Rob Burnett has been named CEO of Bernard Matthews.

The top job at Bernard Matthews has been vacant for almost a year after former CEO Noel Bartram announced he was stepping down just weeks after the UK MD made his shock exit.

Executive chairman David Joll said he was “delighted” to have Burnett join the business and help “accelerate” its recovery following a £20m loss in the 2012/13 year.

Burnett, who is set to join Bernard Matthews by 30 June, said: “I am excited to be joining a big brand with the reach of Bernard Matthews and the potential to reinvigorate it to support our valuable customers.”

For the past 12 years Burnett has served as chief executive of S Daniels PLC and before that help the same role in its subsidiary Hain Daniels where he oversaw brands including New Covent Garden Soup, Johnson’s Juice, Linda McCartney, and Hartleys.

In August last year the brand invested £1m in a new logo and packaging as part of a concerted effort to rid itself of the 'Turkey Twizzler' tag.
