As premieres are advertised and new series of new shows such as Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Homeland begin, more and more people are turning to illegal download sites to get their fix.

Research from Irdeto found that Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Homeland are the most pirated TV shows outside the UK, with GOT by far in the lead: with over 1.4m illegal downloads in January and February of this year alone - almost 50 per cent more than any other title.

This comes as HBO Go crashed when millions were trying to watch the first episode of season four of Game of Thrones, with some suggestions it was overloaded as people shared their log-in details.

The broadcasted has said: "HBO GO did experience issues due to overwhelming demand around the premiere of Game of Thrones. The service has returned to several platforms and we are working hard towards full recovery, which we expect soon."

Shows which have already finished, such as Breaking Bad and Dexter, are also in the top ten more illegally downloaded.
