Nissan new sponsor of Uefa Champions League

Nissan has been announced as a sponsor of the Uefa Champions League, In a deal estimated to be worth over £45m a season.

Replacing Ford, Nissan’s partnership with the European football competition will begin in the 2014/2015 season, and will run until 2017/2018.

"Europe's most prestigious football competition will be an important global platform for Nissan, and our aim is to show fans all over the world the excitement of both football and our cars," said Roel de Vries, Nissan's global head of marketing.

Nissan will now also be a sponsor of the Uefa Super Cup, played each year between the winners of the Champions League and Europa League.

Other sponsors of the Uefa Champions League include Mastercard, Sony and Heineken.
