Facebook staff are being put through a three-hour exam this month in a bid to prove their knowledge of the social network’s products.

Test: Facebook staff are being put through their paces

The Drum understands the tests are being run to ensure that senior employees of the world’s largest social networking website can prove they fully understand each of the platform’s products and how they operate.

Sources close to the situation told The Drum that if employees fail the test they have the opportunity to retake it, with some speculating that the move signals the social network's plan to train its staff to take on a more product sales-led approach instead of straight ad sales.

A spokeswoman for Facebook confirmed that the test did exist, but insisted it was a normal part of the company’s development of staff.

In other Facebook news, CEO Mark Zuckerberg last night revealed that he had contacted President Barack Obama to criticise the US Government’s continued online data mining.
