A journalist dressed up as a priest in an attempt to get into Michael Shumacher’s hospital room after his skiing accident, according to his press officer and manager Sabine Kehm.

Critical: Michael Schumacher is seriously ill in hospital

Seven-time Formula One world champions Schumacher is fighting for his life in hospital after hitting his head in an accident on the French Alps and has undergone two operations to try and reduce pressure on his brain from swelling.

Kehm told German newspaper Welt about the incident: “Apparently, a journalist disguised as a priest has tried to get access to Michael’s room.

“This is something I would not have thought possible. As soon as his disguise was recognised, he expelled from the hospital.”

Schumacher, 44, remains in a critical condition at Grenoble University Hospital.

It’s understood the more than 100 journalists and media personnel have been camped outside the hospital since his arrival there on Sunday.
