Timelords unite for mysterious Doctor Who Twitter teaser campaign
Former Doctor Who actors Colin Baker and Peter Davison have united in a mysterious viral Twitter campaign which appears to be teasing viewers ahead of the forthcoming fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who.Both actors have promoted an enigmatic @DayOfTheFishDr twitter account, which has only tweeted nine times, and is following no one. The account has tweeted veiled references to the series, including photographs, all relating to the incumbents who portrayed The Doctor in the classic TV series.Pre-publicity, including interviews with showrunner Steven Moffat and eighth Doctor actor Paul McGann explicitly stated that none of the classic Doctor Who incarnations would appear in the show’s 50th anniversary programming. This was demonstrated to be a spectacular misdirection when McGann appeared as the Doctor in a secretly filmed prequel episode, to rapturous acclaim. The @DayOfTheFishDr account is followed by classic Who actors Louise Jameson, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Nicola Bryant, and classic series fan liaison, Ian Levine. It was also given a #ff recommendation by Bryant last week. The account has gained 7,690 followers in nine days, whilst producing only nine tweets, gaining immediate traction with the Doctor Who community due to the collaborative efforts of the classic show’s twitter users.
