Video sharing site Dailymotion has announced that it is to expand with the launch of a new subsidiary in Japan.

Japan is a 'priority market'

Dailymotion said that, with over 11 million unique visitors per month, Japan is Dailymotion’s third largest market behind France and the United States.

"Japan is a priority market for us with an already strong audience, especially via smartphones,” said Cédric Tournay , CEO of Dailymotion.

“It is the logical next step for Dailymotion to consolidate its presence with a dedicated subsidiary in Japan that will be able to develop new networks and address other local issues."
