Facebook is currently investigating the Celtic Green and White Army Facebook page after a picture was posted of a man holding a knife to the throat of an image of Celtic FC manager Neil Lennon.

Facebook has initiated an investigation

Lennon has received death threats in the past, with two men jailed for five years in 2012 for sending devices they believed were capable of exploding and causing severe injury to Lennon, former MSP Trish Godman and the late Paul McBride QC.

In 2011 Lennon was attacked on the touchline by a man who leapt from the stands at a Hearts v Celtic game.

The picture shows a man evidently watching Lennon during the football club’s match against FC Barcelona.

The image appeared on the Facebook page shortly after the game concluded.

It has now been taken down.

Police Scotland have not made any comment at the time of publication.
