Vodafone confirms 'advanced' discussions over Verizon Wireless sale
Vodafone has confirmed that it is in 'advanced discussions' to sell its 45 per cent stake in Verizon Wireless for $130bn.
The sale had been expected to go through today, which would have seen the telecommunications company dispose of its US group.
The company issued a statement to the AIM following media reports over the sale, to confirm that 'advanced' talks were being held.
Vodafone also confirmed that the sale would include common stock in Verizon as well as cash, however added that no certainty that an agreement would be reached.
The deal is still expected to proceed today, despite the US marketing being closed for Labour Day.
