Critical Mass, an Omnicom digital agency, has made key leadership appointments to its Toronto office.

The agency has brought ad industry veteran Jon Toews and promoted Shannon McEvoy-Halston to creative and strategy roles.

Toews has returned to the agency as VP creative, having left in 2008 to become managing and creative director at Bensimon Byrne.

Meanwhile, McEvoy-Halston has been promoted to VP, insights and planning, leading the office’s creative and strategy teams.

“Marketers need a strong partner to help them prioritize and evolve their efforts to ensure they are considering their customer’s cumulative experience with the brand,” Matt DiPaola, SVP and managing director of Critical Mass’ Toronto office commented. “We’re pleased to add top talent from across the industry as well as promote strong contributors within the organization. Under Jon and Shannon’s guidance, we have strong leaders and smart contributors to drive our clients’ forward while continuing to broaden the agency’s offerings.”

Critical Mass has also hired Allison Humphries as planning director, Amanda Buchanan as experience architect director and Dylan Gerard as associate creative director, adding to the 100-stong team at the office.

The agency works with clients including Citi, Infiniti and Scotiabank.
