Damian Bates appointed editor-in-chief at Aberdeen Journals Ltd in addition to Press & Journal editor role
Damian Bates has been named as the new editor-in-chief at Aberdeen Journals Ltd taking up the role with immediate effect.
The Press and Journal editor will now assume responsibility for all of DC Thomson’s Aberdeen newspaper titles; The Press and Journal, Evening Express, Citizen and ScotAds.

“Damian will play a key role in all DC Thomson developments, representing the Aberdeen business in internal and external matters.”
In 2003 Bates joined Aberdeen Journals as deputy editor of the Evening Express; he became editor of the Evening Express in April 2006, before moving to become editor of The Press and Journal in 2011.
