Price comparison website Moneysupermarket.com has said that Google’s changes to its natural search algorithms have impacted upon the numbers visiting its website in the last month.

In a trading update for the first half of the year, the site said that its half-year revenue was expected to be around £112m, an increase of 10 per cent, while pre-tax earnings would be around £40m, up by 29 per cent on last year.

Meanwhile, the algorithm changes implemented by Google in recent months has reduced the visitor numbers reaching the site through natural search, as well as impacting on revenue.

Despite this, the company claimed that, as it had seen before, the algorithm changes had now settled and it was working on regaining its positions within the competitive insurance search area.
