OMD UK has made Toby Gunton, chief digital officer at WCRS as its head of innovation.

Gunton joins OMD after 18 months heading up WCRS digital operations and will report directly to the agency's newly appointed managing partners of strategy Hamid Habib and Rian Shah when they begin in August.

He will be tasked with driving innovation across the company to ensure the use of new innovation within client solutions, while aiding the digital approach taken by the agency.

Dan Clays, managing director of OMD UK, said: "Coming from a creative shop, Toby brings a completely new background to the agency; operating across the paid, owned and earned spectrum with a brilliant grasp of the impact technology can have for media and brands. "

Clays added: "He will drive innovation across the agency as well as identifying new communications possibilities for clients and media owners. He’s also a top bloke who will fly at OMD UK.”

Gunton will begin his board-level role in September.
