Bolton Wanderers FC has unceremoniously ditched their payday loan sponsor following a campaign by fans, choosing a less politically loaded local energy firm, FibrLec, instead.

QuickQuid had signed a two year sponsorship deal with the club, sparking the umbrage and leading to a petition signed by 4,500 fans calling for the deal to be revoked.

This duly happened following discussions between the clubs management, politicians and fans ensuring that the payday loan firms logo won’t appear anywhere in the grounds.

Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside said: "We have worked for years to build trust and participation with the community through our Community Trust, education programmes, and other initiatives that are currently underway in partnership with local and national government.

"We don't want our commercial relationships to come between us and our community, and neither does QuickQuid."
