He may have only just hung up his footballing boots but David Beckham’s earning potential may now be full unleashed with branding experts predicting that the football star could rake in as much as £300m from a slew of ambassadorial roles.

Already the richest player in the world Beckham is expected to add to his coffers by concentrating on commercial activities with a move back to the capital.

This will include supporting his wife Victoria’s perfume and fashion brand dVb and on exploiting further sponsorship deals such as those signed with Pepsi, Samsung and Marks & Spencer.

Not one to hang about Beckham has already signed a £20m deal to act as an ambassador for Sky TV, plus a £50m contract to serve as an ambassador for the Chinese Super League – this is on top of his role fronting Sainsbury’s.

Steve Martin, chief executive of M&C Saatchi Sport and Entertainment, said: “From a brand perspective he is unique. He has an appeal that will go on for the next 15 to 20 years. He is on a totally different planet to other players in terms of commercial value and long-term ambassadorial roles.”
