Channel 4 has promoted David Amodio to the newly created role of digital and creative lead following the departure of Carl Read.

Amodio will be responsible for managing the broadcaster’s commercial business spanning its catch-up service 4oD and Channel4.com, reporting to head of digital and partnership innovation Jonathan Lewis.

His promotion follows the departure of former digital leader Carl Read, who has left to join media agency OMD UK as head of digital.

In his former role as agency principal Amodio led one of six agency teams comprising specialists from trading, sponsorship, ad-funded programming, product placement, creative solutions and digital.

Lewis said: “Over the last few months I have recognised the need to centralise creative leadership within the sales team. In addition, our digital business is entering into a new exciting phase of data targeting and increased innovation. David has a unique mix of creative and commercial brain, which I believe will drive us forward both digitally and creatively.”

The news follows a restructure to the partnerships team revealed by the broadcaster this week. The broadcaster has promoted partnerships business manager Rupinder Downie to the role of partnership controller with responsibilities for selling and delivering broadcast sponsorship across Channel 4 and UKTV channels.

Channel 4 is now recruiting for a second partnership controller role. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing ad-funded programmes, product placement, activation and creative solutions.

Both positions will report into Partnership Lead Rob Ramsey.
