Labour has said a last minute deal has been struck between Britain’s three main political parties over measures to regulate the press.

Harriet Harman made the announcement following overnight discussions between Nick Clegg, David Milliband and a Cabinet Office minister.

No details have been released as to the nature of the deal but it means that a planned Commons vote set to take place on the issue today will now not go ahead.

David Cameron pulled the plug on an agreement last week after ruling out establishing a watchdog backed by law, a measure backed by his rivals.
