Virgin Mobile has released a new TV campaign in the US featuring Wayne Coyle from The Flaming Lips, internet feline Colonel Meow, a shark, an octopus and a set of Brazilian triplets.

The advert entitled ‘Retrain Your Brain’, is the latest from Mother New York and has been inspired by focus group testing where the insight arose that consumers were resistant to switching alliances from mobile phone operators, but didn’t know the reason why.

In order for Virgin Mobile to begin to make the break through with consumers, it has embarked on a mission to get inside people’s heads to make them realise that they no longer had to accept “mediocre service” Mother New York explained, and that they could “get more by switching to Virgin Mobile”.

The campaign was released in the US on Tuesday 12 March and was produced by Traktor.
