Pay per view Vimeo-On-Demand set to launch

Vimeo has announced that it is set to introduce an on-demand pay per view model as part of its pro service.

Launched at SXSW, it has been revealed that the new service will be called Vimeo-On-Demand.

Vimeo chief executive Kerry Trainor said: "Lots of creators earn revenue from content. Now we'll have a paywall, which is Vimeo-on-demand. We think it will mean people offering quality, and a level of control and flexibility - there's also control over geographical distribution, and a window of availability.

"We've had desire for this feature for a long time from the video community. We've done some previews in the past few months."

The product will see Vimeo taking a 10 per cent cut of revenues after the transaction cost.
