Social media company TBG has announced the launch of ‘Calendar Live’, its first app built using Twitter’s Ad API in order to offer multiple layers of functionality to its client based.

With Nielsen statistics showing that 85 per cent of tablet/smartphone owners use their device while watching television at least once a month and 40 per cent doing it daily, the app aims to take advantage of second screen technology to run Twitter campaign alongside TV campaigns.

‘Calendar Live’ allows for clients to align Tweets to TV and live events. TBG CEO Simon Mansell said the app will “help marketers align Promoted Tweets to TV audiences and capitalise on live, trending hashtags, throughout their scheduled programme of Tweets.”

As well as ‘Calendar Live’ TBG is also releasing a bespoke SXSW app covering the trends taking place at South by Southwest - #SXSWVersus.

The app will measure the social buzz of the talks at SXSW in real time. Mansell added: “It’s a way of showcasing our capabilities as one of Twitter’s first ad API partners.

“The #SXSWVersus app runs using the same technology as our Calendar Live app. It gathers data and delivers results that enable marketers to make on-the-spot decisions about their schedules based on the popularity of a given subject.”
