Virgin Media has added a YouTube app to the listings page on its TiVo service.

The video-sharing platform’s app will be included within the TV guide and available through selecting number 198 on TiVo. It will include clips from its programming and be integrated into its My Shows and Search and Browse areas.

Peter Chapman, associate director of content acquisition at Virgin Media, explained: “The distinction between different types of entertainment – from channel schedules to On Demand TV, from linear broadcasts to online content – is blurring all the time. By giving YouTube a place in our channel listings we’re breaking the mould of the traditional EPG and giving our customers even more choice in how they can watch the great content on our platform.”

Francisco Varela, global director platform partnerships at YouTube, added: “We’re always looking for new ways to bring the exciting content generated by our creator community to viewers and are delighted that the YouTube app now has a place in Virgin Media’s channel listings.”

The app can also be accessed via the Apps and Games section of Virgin Media TiVo, while YouTube search results will also be available through programme information as a bonus feature, which will include outtakes and fan content.

Last week, announced its plan to launch an app through its platform next month.

Meanwhile, Virgin Media has also confirmed that it will air the new Sky Movies Disney channel announced earlier today following the agreement of a content deal between The Walt Disney Company and Sky.
