EE, the title sponsor of the British Academy Film Awards, has announced that it will be streaming the ‘EE BAFTAs 360° Red Carpet Show’ live from the ceremony using multi-camera, 360° technology, giving fans the chance to “virtually mingle” with stars on the night.

Via an app for iOS and Android, viewers will be able to go between cameras, using the device’s inbuilt gyroscopic controls, in real time, controlling the action by panning up down, left and right in full 360°.

Fans have also been able to experience the EE BAFTA Red Carpet through Facebook.

The show, which will be hosted on one camera by MTV presenter Laura Whitmore, was conceived and produced by M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, in partnership with surround video specialists Yellowbird and EE's digital agency, Poke.

Spencer McHugh, director of brand, EE, commented: “For EE’s first year of partnership with the Film Awards, we knew we wanted to do something truly ambitious and to use technology to enhance the BAFTA experience. EE is a brand built around how the magic of technology can improve our everyday lives, and with the 360° show we’re aiming to make what is one of Britain’s most glamorous evenings even better.”

Dave Roberts, head of entertainment at M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, also added: "By combining stunning cutting-edge production with live and on-demand multi-channel distribution, this show promises to be a truly ground-breaking spectacle.”
