Delia Smith hangs up her TV apron as she launches online cookery school
Delia Smith has said that her last TV appearance as a chef came to an end with her Waitrose sponsorship deal.
Instead, the veteran cooking show presenter will launch her own online cookery school.
Speaking at a Birmingham trade show, Smith, who has been presenting cookery shows since 1973, said: "As soon as my Waitrose contract ended, the BBC called me up and said 'what can we do?’”
"And I said 'no, thank you.' I am afraid to say this is the end when it comes to Delia on the telly."
She then added that her new venture, the Delia Online Cookery School, was "the best way to teach people to cook."
The online cookery school will launch later this month.
