Korea Tourism Organisation to capitalise on success of 'Gangnam Style' with Google Adwords campaign
The Korea Tourism Organisation is to launch an online advertising campaign with Media Agency Group to promote Gangnam, the heart of trendy Seoul, and Korea as a holiday destination.
In a bid to capitalise on the worldwide success of Korean pop star Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ the Korea Tourism Organisation is using this interest to raise the profile of the destination with a Google Adwords campaign and a Gangnam Style video competition.
Entrants are asked to video themselves and their friends stamping out the Gangnam Style moves and upload the video to YouTube, the winner and a friend will then be flown to Seoul courtesy of the Korea Tourism Organisation and Korean Air for a three night stay in Seoul and a tour of Gangnam.
The online division of Media Agency Group, Click Tap Media, has also been tasked with increasing the number of visitors to the Go Korea website, encouraging competition entries from those using key search terms including ‘Gangnam Style’, ‘Psy’ and ‘Gangnam’, and running a traditional campaign focussing on Korean holidays.
Click Tap Media has focused on building campaign groups specific to both advertising messages, and refining bids and budget to improve the websites conversion rate as well as maintaining the quality of traffic to the site.
The core messaging and ad copy has been set to each keyword campaign, targeting audiences already interested in holidays in East Asia, and targeting web users interested in Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’.
