STV Productions has partnered with GroupM to pilot a new wedding dance programme, First Dance, which sees two couples compete to surprise their guests with the best first dance ever.

Co-developed with US partners Kinetic Content and funded by GroupM Entertainment, First Dance will be GroupM’s third co-production with STV Productions following Perez Hilton – Super Fan for ITV2 earlier this year and psychological thriller The Poison Tree, which airs on ITV1 in December.

STV Productions has a strategic partnership with Kinetic Content to develop new formats to be pitched in both the US and UK markets.

In the pilot, due to be aired this month, world class choreographers will assist the couples competing for the £1000 prize money.

Managing director of GroupM Entertainment, Richard Foster, commented: “We’re always looking at ways of launching new IP into the market and this pilot is a great way to do that. We’re also delighted to be furthering our relationship with both STV and Kinetic.”

Wendy Rattray, creative director for STV Productions, added: “The concept of First Dance is brilliantly entertaining and a format we’re sure will be popular in the UK and US.

“This pilot further adds to the diverse range of STV Productions’ work and highlights our successful partnerships with Kinetic Content and GroupM Entertainment.”
