Innovation foundation Nesta has announced the launch of its Creative Business Mentor Network, which will see businesses apply to be mentored by a successful senior executive in the creative industry.

Amongst the mentors taking part are Steve Macallister, MD of BBC Worldwide; Ben McOwen Wilson, director of YouTube; and Steve Taylor, CEO of The Neighbourhood.

The mentoring scheme will run for two years, with applicant companies needing to fall with in at least one of the named sectors of advertising, digital media, films, games or TV.

Jon Kingsbury, director of creative economy programmes at Nesta, said: “Access to the experience and expertise of the industry’s top performers on a personal basis is a fantastic catalyst in the development of creative businesses. We believe that mentoring is one of the best ways for creative businesses to acquire the skills and confidence they need to thrive and our aim through this programme is for business mentoring to be adopted more widely across our industry.”
