Simon Crunden, former associate planning director at OMD UK has joined Republic of Media as head of channel planning.

Crunden, who took up his new role last week, has previously held roles at Feather Brooksbank and also the People’s Postcode Lottery, and was most recently managing director of the UK office of Australian smartphone and youth marketing brand

He will work out of the agency’s Edinburgh and Manchester agencies, with a focus on bet365, while also aiming to offer further insight to client’s media plans, as well as new business, digital and mobile activity.

"I'm delighted to be joining Republic of Media at such an exciting time and look forward to working with current and future clients, ensuring that they get the most from their communications spend. We're in the middle of the digital revolution and clients need agile, forward-thinking partners like Republic of Media to help them deliver great results,” commented Crunden.

Stuart Feather, founder of Republic of Media, added: " We're delighted to have attracted an individual of Simon's calibre to the company - he immediately augments our current team, and empowers us to develop our thinking outside of core channels. Simon's skill-set will ensure that we remain ahead of many of our competitors who focus on chasing volume and delivering gross margin."
