Winning work: Roses Creative Awards gold winners

Celebrating the best creativity in the UK outside of London, The Roses Creative Awards took place in Manchester on 3 May, and once again unearthed a wealth of creative talent. Here, The Drum presents a selection of the gold award winners from the night.

The Roses Creative Awards, the annual scheme celebrating and rewarding creativity across Britain's regions, took place in Manchester recently. This year marked the first time that the Roses Advertising Awards and Design Awards have been combined and the great and the good of the creative industry descended on the city's Mercure Hotel to hear the results being announced. Here, we take a look at a selection of the gold award-winning work from the event. Aldi Like Brands, created by McCann Manchester for Aldi Stores, was awarded the Grand Prix and picked up gold awards for advertising strategy, TV/cinema campaign and TV/cinema commercial under 21 seconds. Poster: Created by The Leith Agency for a Scottish Chamber Orchestra performance of Mozart at the Usher Hall Food or drink advert: IAS b2b Marketing’s ‘To Die For’ ad, created for Smashing Pate, which also received a silver award for packaging and a nomination for corporate identity App: fuse8 created the Art in Yorkshire iPhone app for Axisweb and York Museums Trust, with support from Tate and Welcome to Yorkshire Charity advert: McGrath O’Toole’s Street Art, created for Simon on the Streets - also received bronze awards in the categories of most creative use of media and ambient media/stunts TV/Cinema commercial over 21 seconds: CheethamBellJWT created the John West Lucky Pete commercial for John West Exhibition/point of sale: The Leith Agency’s IRN -BRU point of sale cut-outs for A.G. Barr, which were awarded for the point of sale aspect of the category - also awarded gold for use of animation Packaging: LOVE ’s special edition Johnnie Walker bottle design for Diageo ‘A Different Way of Giving’, created by Propaganda for charity Simon on the Streets, was awarded gold awards in the categories of unusual size or special build and ambient media/stunts Art direction: Magpie Studio’s ‘Imagine the Possibilities’, created for Robert Horne Group – also awarded a bronze for use of illustration Online video/film: Axis Animation’s Dead Island Trailer, created for client Deep Silver Use of photography: Reinbeer by Rees Bradley Hepburn for Church End Brewery was also awarded a gold in the outdoor campaign category and a bronze for art direction Annual report: Tayburn created the annual report 2011 for The Yard Direct mail: Tayburn for Lynne Forsyth - also received a nomination in the best copywriting category Exhibition/point of sale: Studio MB created ‘The Story of JCB’ for client JCB Excavators, which was awarded for the exhibition aspect of the category Website: Creative Lynx created the Relief Resort eVillage website for Genus Pharmaceuticals Corporate/promotional literature: Elmwood’s People Can newspaper for People Can - also awarded gold in best copywriting category and silver for corporate identity An A-Z Guide to St George’s, created by The Click for St George’s Church, Colegate, Norwich, won the Chairman’s Award and the gold award for use of typography. The guide was also awarded silver in the publications category Press Campaign: McCann Birmingham’s ‘Hand Picked by the Establishment’ for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles - also awarded gold in the category of press advert and nominations for art direction and photography House advert/self promotion: Vital’s ‘Turn your Cards into Trees’ Online campaign: FREAK FILMS created Bru-Jet for IRN-BRU Most creative use of media: McCann Birmingham created ‘St George’ for client Vauxhall, which was also received a bronze award in the category of TV /cinema commercial over 21 seconds Low budget: Big Communications’ Taxi for Drivemycarhome.co.uk, which also received a nomination in the category of ambient media/stunts Public sector advert: M-four created the ‘Any plans tonight’record player advert for NHS Public Health Manchester. Also awarded gold in the category of 6.4 or smaller sheet poster Design strategy: The Y Device, created by Welcome to Yorkshire Publications: Music created The Hand. Written.Letter.Project book for The National Literacy Trust TV/cinema campaign produced for £20k or less: STV Creative’s ‘For You For Them’ commercial for Strathclyde Police Corporate identity: Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games - The Pictograms, created by Tangent Graphic for Glasgow 2014 Ltd. Also awarded a gold for use of illustration Recruitment advert: ‘Lorem Ipsum’ by Rees Bradley Hepburn
