Tesco set to challenge Amazon

Tesco are planning a retail revolution which could see them taking on Amazon at their own game.

Britain’s biggest supermarket is on course to report its lowest profit growth for seven years, according to The Sunday Telegraph. To combat the fall they intend selling goods from rival retailers via their website.

The details will be announced on Wednesday by Tesco chief executive Philip Clarke, but their online shoppers can already buy plants and garden equipment from Crocus, an online horticultural retailer.

Tesco intends adding DIY retailers or homeware specialists, with the supermarket taking a cut from every sale.

Their strategy is to expand their click-and-collect service, which allows buyers to pay online and collect from their nearest store, instead of waiting for home delivery.
