ScotRail is launching its first mobile website, following a 130% increase in the number of people using mobile devices to access the site.

From tomorrow, those using mobiles will be directed automatically to the mobile site, where they can find train times, check there are no delays, and book tickets.

Graeme Macfarlan, ScotRail’s marketing manager, said: “Demand has soared for a mobile-friendly website to boost the online experience for customers on the move, and commuters in particular.

“The website features fewer pictures and only the most essential elements of ScotRail’s full website, to deliver faster and more efficient access for mobile users.”

Users will have the opportunity to return to the full site, if they wish.

Transport Minister Keith Brown said: “I’m delighted to see ScotRail launching a new way to keep passengers informed and up to date on what’s happening with their train services.

“The Scottish Government is always keen to see new technologies being embraced and I welcome every scheme like this which helps enhance the rail experience and encourages more people on to the trains in Scotland.

“I am sure passengers will be just as pleased to see ScotRail continuing to work towards our shared vision of a better Scottish train service.”
