Ashley Madison, the world’s largest dating site for married people, has announced it has made an audacious bid to rescue Rangers from the financial mire.

This would take the form of a five year £4.4m stadium sponsorship package in which Rangers iconic blue stands would be daubed pink.

A further £2.3m is on the table - if Ibrox’s finest were prepared to don pink ‘Ashley Madison’ emblazoned shirts.

In a letter to the clubs administrators (seen by The Drum) Biderman writes: “Sport runs through my veins and I am passionate about ensuring the future of this globally-renowned football club.

“We would like to enter into a discussion regarding our support for Rangers Football Club and would like you to consider our role in its future success. Like many other global brands we feel a mutually-beneficial partnership can be forged to create opportunities for both sides.

“Sportsmen are famous for their cheating ways and we feel linking our dating site with this impressive club’s performance historically and tying in to its future will create a powerful partnership.”

Administrators Duff & Phelps are yet to respond to the offer.

Lucre PR are advising Ashley Madison on the bid.
