Kodak is looking to reverse a precipitous decline in its fortunes over the past year by announcing a new digital strategy.

The change in focus will see the venerable photography firm belatedly assert itself in the face of its upstart challengers with a more aggressive push into digital products.

This will see the 132 year old company follow up its popular range of digital inkjet printers with further devices.

Kodak’s new stance has seen it instigate lawsuits against both Apple and HTC over claims that the smartphone manufacturers have infringed several of its patents.

Antonio Perez, Kodak’s chief executive, said: “As we complete Kodak's transformation to a digital company, our future markets will be very different from our past, and we need to organise ourselves in keeping with that evolution.”
