The title sequence, credits, bumpers and 24 recipe intros for Jamie Oliver’s festive TV special, ‘Jamie’s Christmas With Bells On’, has been created by Mr & Mrs Smith.

Appointed by Fresh One Productions and Channel 4, the agency worked with Barnaby Purdy, art director at Jamie Oliver, to bring a handcrafted style to the animated content which takes place throughout the show.

Purdy said: “Working with Jamie and his team is always fun. For the 2011 Christmas specials we’ve been able to really go to town on the theme. Mr & Mrs Smith have really brought the concept to life with their charming character animations. I think the whole show will be something special for the Christmas season.”

‘Jamie’s Christmas With Bells On’ will air on Channel 4 on 14 and 20 December at 9pm, as well as being available online via Channel 4’s on-demand 4OD food channel.

Sam Balderstone, director at Mr & Mrs Smith, said: “Jamie’s laid back, cheeky approach to cooking has made him a national institution and his TV shows hugely popular. We are delighted that Mr & Mrs Smith has been appointed to work on this high profile seasonal show. Their handcrafted character animation perfectly reflects Jamie’s approachable style and combining this with a Christmas theme, they’ve been able to create something truly unique for the festive season.”
