PRCA welcomes Chancellor's review of TUPE
The announcement by Chancellor George Osborne (pictured) that he will review TUPE legislation has been welcomed by the PRCA, which believed that this will develop flexibility within the PR industry.
The TUPE legistlation, which aims to protect employees whose business is being transferred elsewhere, has been seen by communications bosses as being 'unworkable' in terms of account moves.
Francis Ingham, PRCA chief executive, commented “TUPE was never designed for consultancies and stifles their ability to service clients effectively. It is absurd that when a client wants to switch adviser to get a fresh perspective, it can be lumbered with the same team it was trying to shake off in the first place. This consultation cannot come soon enough and we will make this point in no uncertain terms.”
