The Daily reveals only 80,000 paying subscribers
Rupert Murdoch’s iPad-only newspaper The Daily, has picked up 80,000 paying subscribers, around a sixth the necessary number for it to break even,
According to AdAge, the Daily has a weekly readership of 120,000 readers, with 80,000 paying the annual subscription fee of $39.99 or 99¢ a week to access its online content.
The Daily was launched by Rupert Murdoch in February and said at the time that it would need around 500,000 paying subscribers to be a viable business product.
