The report from Manchester Evening News about Salford superhero Knight Warrior has led to over 15,000 YouTube views of an interview with the man in question, along with MP Hazel Blears offering to become his sidekick.

Roger Hayhurst, the 19 year old gardener with the Knight Warrior alias, patrols the streets of Salford In his attempts to make the world a better place.

In response to the article yesterday, Hazel Blears told MEN Media “He’s every girl’s hero…maybe I could be his side kick and he could come out on patrol with me. We’d be like Batman and Robin!”

Knight Warrior has his own website – complete with a section for help requests – and a Facebook page with almost 2,000 fans.

The hero – who says that there is about 26 ‘real life superheroes’ in the UK and that they all meet up – even inspired a poll on the MEN Media website, although only 20% of respondents thought that the Knight Warrior could make the streets safer.
