Jewellery company Rox has spent £25,000 on a website for smartphone users, built by Ayrshire firm Webage.

Rox hopes that it can attract an extra 7,500 visitors a month through its site, which has been optimised for the iPhone and Android devices.

Kyron Keogh, managing director and co-owner of Glasgow based Rox, said to business7: “Online sales now account for 15 per cent of our annual turnover and with the rapid increase of smart phones we felt it was essential to upgrade our website to offer our customers a superior browsing experience.

“There is already considerable existing demand to engage with our customers via mobile devices.

“Traditionally jewellers rely on in-store purchases however we have seen a real surge in the popularity of our website.

“We want to make sure that the shopping experience is as smooth as possible for customers who want to shop online as it is for those that shop in our boutiques.

“The added convenience that mobile provides to our shoppers makes it a vital channel for ROX. Our customers can now browse and purchase securely from over 20,000 products on their smart phone.”
