Everything Everywhere to sell spectrum after trading agreement from Ofcom
Everything Everywhere, the owner of T-Mobile and Orange, can now sell off spectrum and meet the European competition regulations after trading was approved by Ofcom.
The company was required to sell 19% of its spectrum as a condition of the merger between the two networks, but could not do so until Ofcom approved a spectrum trading mechanism.
Ofcom said the spectrum is worth £40billion a year to the economy, with Three UK defining the spectrum as “the lifeblood of smartphones and the mobile internet”.
Ofcom is preparing a spectrum auction to form the backbone of forthcoming 4G services.
