New Yorkshire art gallery The Hepworth Wakefield has taken the wraps off its website after 18 months in development.

The £35m gallery appointed Liverpool agency Rippleffect to create the site in February 2010 after a competitive tender.

Hollie Latham, head of marketing and communications at The Hepworth Wakefield, said: "It was important that we translated the innovative new gallery into a stunning website design, giving a focus to the images of artworks in the collection and exhibitions as well as providing a rich user experience."

The site features a what's on guide and community pages with live social media feeds. Rippleffect is now working on the launch of phase two of the site which will add an online shop, ticketing system and collections database showcasing over 6,000 works of art.

As part of the gallery's launch communications it has also worked with APFEL to create its branding and Sumo for campaign graphics.
