Welcome To Yorkshire boss not set to join Marketing Leeds
With news breaking today that Marketing Leeds has extended its search for a chief executive beyond the region following two rounds of interviews, one of the favourites looks set to remain in his current post.
Rumours have spread that the Leeds born chairman of Welcome to Yorkshire was favourite to take on the £100,000 a year role over seeing the newly consolidated organisation, but sources from within the tourism agency have assured The Drum that he will not be leaving to take the job.
Said a source, “Gary is currently in a job, and although he would love the job at Marketing Leeds as its where he’s from, he is very happy in the job he has now.”
The new marketing body will consolidate Marketing Leeds, Financial Leeds, Locate in Leeds, Leeds Visitor Centre and Conference Leeds into one body, known as Marketing Leeds.
