An above-the-line campaign to re-launch office supplies brand Viking, the direct mail and e-commerce channel of Office Depot will launch next week.

Created by Gratterpalm, the TV and radio campaign features the voice of Chris Evans and aims to position Viking as an office one-stop-shop with the stapline ‘All the inspiration your office needs’.

John O’Keeffe, commercial director at Office Depot and Viking, said: “The decision to rebrand Viking is a strategic decision motivated by changes we are seeing in the office supplies marketplace. The new brand is intended to appeal to a more diverse customer base, while taking our existing customers with us.”

Rick Ward, creative director at Gratterpalm, added: “The campaign aims to showcase the versatility and relevance of the Viking brand, which is why we took the decision to include scenes both in and outside of an office environment to better reflect how we all work today.

“The re-launch of Viking is an exciting campaign for Gratterpalm to lead as it draws on the expertise across our business, including broadcast, digital and research. We are looking forward to helping Office Depot achieve its ambitious plans for the brand in 2011.”

Alongside the national TV and radio campaign, a new website had been soft launched, with Gratterpalm also responsible for the development of interactive display ads, flash games and social media activity.

The 30 second TV campaign will air on 16 May on the Sky network including ITV2, Dave, Discovery and Paramount channels for four weeks.

A two week radio campaign will begin on 30 May on the Heart Network, following by a two week poster campaign on the London Underground.
